Idowu eases through to final

Defending champion Phillips Idowu has cruised into the triple jump final at the World Championships in Daegu.

He booked his place at the decider with a 17.17m jump in the first round of qualifying, seven centimetres further than the automatic qualifying mark.

"My job is to qualify as quickly as possible for the final and then win - and I'm one step closer to doing that," he told BBC Radio Five Live.

Idowu becomes the first Briton to defend a world title at the Championships.
