USA's Dawn Harper-Nelson crashes into hurdle during 100m semi-finals

Favourite Harper-Nelson crashes into hurdle

USA's Dawn Harper-Nelson will not contest for a medal in the women's 100m hurdles final after she crashed into the second hurdle in the semi-finals at the World Athletics Championships in Beijing.

The former Olympic champion was one of the favourites to reach the podium in the final later today, but she failed to finish the race.

After storming out of the blocks, the American clipped the second hurdle, which caused her to tumble to the floor and fall out of contention for a place in the final.

Meanwhile, Great Britain's Cindy Ofili finished the semi-final sixth in 12.91s, which was not good enough to reach the final.
