The USA's Aries Merritt takes the gold medal in the men's 110m hurdles at the London Olympics.

Aries Merritt continued his season's good form to win the gold medal during tonight's Olympic final in the men's 110m hurdles.

The 27-year-old got out of the blocks well and by the midway point he held a clear lead over the rest of the field.

He eventually crossed the line in a new personal best time of 12.92s, claiming the top prize for the United States in the process.

His compatriot Jason Richardson claimed the silver medal, while Jamaica's Hansle Parchment ran a national record 13.12s to take the bronze.

There was not such good news for Cuba's Dayron Robles though, as the defending champion crashed into a barrier and appeared to damage his hamstring, causing him to pull up early.

Meanwhile, Team GB's Lawrence Clarke fared better, finishing fourth in a time of 13.39s.
