Christian Taylor lands triple jump gold

America's Christian Taylor has won the triple jump Olympic gold medal by jumping a new season's best of 17.81m this evening.

The 22-year-old, who adds the Olympic crown to his World Championship title from last year, was 15cm short of his personal best but 19cm clear of compatriot Will Claye with his fourth jump of the final.

Fabrizio Donato of Italy took the bronze medal by jumping 17.48m to finish ahead of fellow countryman Daniele Greco.
