Spearmon second in 200m heat

American sprinter Wallace Spearmon finished in the runner-up spot in his men's 200m heat at the Olympic Games in London.

Running from lane one, the 27-year-old appeared to ease out of the blocks and around the final bend.

Consequently, he was forced to accelerate down the home straight, eventually ending up second in a time of 20.47s.

The race was won by Ecuador's Alex Quinonez, who set a national record of 20.28 seconds.

The final qualifying spot went to Japan's Shinji Takahira.
