Zharnel Hughes happy to reach 200m final

Britain's Zharnel Hughes insists that he is ready to face "the best guys in the world" in the 200m final at the World Athletics Championships.

Zharnel Hughes has said that he is ready to face "the best guys in the world" after reaching the final of the men's 200m event at the World Athletics Championships in Beijing.

The Briton won the first of the three semis, booking his place in tomorrow's final alongside America's Justin Gatlin and world record holder Usain Bolt.

The 20-year-old told BBC Sport: "I hit my toe on the block and that slowed me down when I got out, but nevertheless I am in the final that is what I wanted and I have a good lane draw. I am ready to run against the best guys in the world."

Hughes sits second in the Diamond League standings in the 200m, having won in the Lausanne and London meetings.
