UK Athletic coach Charles van Commenee reveals that triple jumper Phillips Idowu has not spoken to his coach Aston Moore for a fortnight.

UK Athletics coach Charles van Commenee has hit out against triple jumper Phillips Idowu, branding his fitness controversy "bizarre".

The British hopeful became a doubt for this summer's Olympic Games after reports emerged claiming that he had been suffering from a nerve problem in his knee.

Following the news, the 33-year-old was asked to present his medical records to the British Olympic Association, which he reluctantly delivered after a lengthy delay.

Van Commenee, who is preparing the British athletes in Portugal ahead of the start of their Olympics campaign on Friday, has revealed that Idowu has not spoken to his coach Aston Moore for two weeks.

"I find it bizarre," said Van Commenee. "Aston finds it bizarre. We have to deal with the situation as it is presented to us.

"First he has to show up, and we don't know when he is going to show up. When he shows up, where he sleeps, we have no idea."

Meanwhile, the BOA are confident that Idowu will be fit to compete in London.
