Yamile Aldama fifth in triple jump final

Team GB's Yamile Aldama finishes fifth in the final of the women's triple jump at the London Olympics.

Great Britain's Yamile Aldama ended up fifth in the final of the women's triple jump tonight.

The 39-year-old did enough during her opening three jumps to qualify for the second round of the competition.

However, she could only manage a best leap of 14.48m from her remaining three jumps, which was not enough to challenge for a medal.

Kazakhstan's Olga Rypakova won gold with a jump of 14.98m, while Colombia's Caterine Ibarguen took silver.

Olha Saladuha of the Ukraine finished with a bronze medal after leaping a distance of 14.79m.
