Rutherford: "What a night for British athletics"

Greg Rutherford has hailed the performance of Team GB inside the Olympic Stadium tonight as "incredible".

The 25-year-old won gold in the men's long jump to match the successes of his track-based teammates Jessica Ennis and Mo Farah.

"It is the most amazing feeling in the world," he told BBC Sport. "I knew I was in great shape. I've got a pretty good life, I'm not going to lie!

"I thought I was going to jump further than but I'm Olympic champion so who cares?

"What a night for British athletics. It's incredible."

Tonight's triumphs have seen Great Britain tighten their grip on third place in the medals table.
