Great British heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson has admitted that she is still trying to take everything in at her home Olympics.

The 19-year-old, who is third in the overall standings after two events, is competing in the first Games of her career.

Having finished runner-up in the high jump discipline, the youngster confessed that she is so far enjoying the experience of performing in front of a home crowd.

"High jump is one of my favourite events. I couldn't ask for any more than that," she told BBC Sport.

"I'm trying to absorb everything and enjoy myself. This time I can be competitive and it is paying off."

Next up for Johnson-Thompson and her fellow competitors is the shot put.
