Anna Chicherova wins gold for Russia in high jump

Anna Chicherova has won gold for Russian Federation in the women's high jump final as the only athlete to clear 2.05m.

Chicherova cleared the height on her second attempt, her first effort being her only failed jump in the entire final.

Brigetta Barrett of the United States claimed silver with a personal best of 2.03m, but could not match Chicherova.

Svetlana Shkolina of Russia took bronze with the same jump as Barrett, but she took three attempts to the American's two to make the height so had to settle for third.
