Paula Radcliffe runs an Olympic qualifying time of 2.23:46 in the Berlin Marathon.

Paula Radcliffe has qualified for the London 2012 marathon after running well inside the two hours, 31 minutes UK standard at the Berlin Marathon.

In her first race over 26.2 miles since the birth of her second child last September, Radcliffe finished third behind Florence Kiplagat and Germany's Irina Mikitenko, crossing the line in a time of two hours, 23 minutes and 46 seconds.

Despite the result the 37-year-old wasn't entirely happy with her performance in the German capital.

She told BBC Sport after the race: "I'm not happy because I would have liked to have run faster and I wanted to win the race. My main goal was to race and enjoy it and I kind of enjoyed it.

"I probably got carried away in the beginning. After the year I've had I should be happy with that, but I am a bit frustrated."

In the men's race in Berlin Kenya's Patrick Makau set a new marathon world record.
