World marathon record broken

Kenya's Patrick Makau has set a new world record in the Marathon at the BMW Berlin Marathon on Sunday, clocking 2:03:38.

The 26-year-old's run took 21 seconds out of Ethiopian great Haile Gebrselassie's previous record, which was set at the same race in 2008.

Makau also defended his title from 2010 in winning the event.
