Joseph Mutinda handed three-year doping ban

US-based Kenyan athlete Joseph Mutinda is handed a three-year doping ban for the use of performance-enhancing drugs.

Kenyan athlete Joseph Mutinda has been handed a three-year drugs ban by the US Anti-Doping Agency.

The 40-year-old, who trains in New Mexico, admitted to using a number of performance-enhancing drugs after testing positive for 19-norandrosterone on two separate occasions.

Mutinda had won the Austin Marathon last February, but due to an in-competition positive test, he has since had his title stripped.

In the past two years a number of Kenyan athletes have been handed doping bans, including Boston and Chicago marathon winner Rita Jeptoo.
