The Queen's Baton Relay to mark the start of the Commonwealth Games has left Buckingham Palace.

The baton will visit all 70 Commonwealth nations and territories before the Games next year following its departure from the Palace this morning.

The baton, which was sent off with the help of former Olympian Sir Chris Hoy, will make its way to Glasgow in time for the opening ceremony.

A hand-written message from Queen Elizabeth II has been placed inside the baton.
