IAAF provisionally suspends Moroccan runner Selsouli from Olympics

Morrocan athlete suspended from Olympics

The International Association of Athletics Federation have provisionally suspended Morrocan 1500m runner Mariem Alaoui Selsouli for a positive doping test.

The world governing body have confirmed that the athlete tested positive for diuretic furosemide following July's Diamond League meeting in Paris.

"Selsouli has waived her right to the B (backup sample) analysis, and as a result has now been provisionally suspended from all competition in athletics," confirmed the IAAF.

Diuretic furosemide is an agent used to disguise the presence of other performance-enhancing drugs. Selsouli has previously served a two-year ban between 2009 and 2011 for a doping offence.
