Gebrselassie targets Olympic success

Ethiopian marathon runner Haile Gebrselassie has denied reports that he is about to retire and has instead targeted success at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The 38-year-old dropped out of his second successive marathon in Berlin on Sunday morning and saw his world record broken by Patrick Makau.

However, 10,000m Olympic gold medallist has insisted that quitting the sport is not something that he is currently considering and is keen to make "history" next year.

"I don't want to miss the Olympics," he told BBC Sport. "It is London and to win here is something very special. I want to go down in history."

Gebrselassie called an end to his career in November 2010, only to reverse his decision a few days later.
