Sophie Hahn storms to Commonwealth gold

Sophie Hahn has notched up a new Commonwealth Games record en route to gold in the women's T38 100m final.

The 21-year-old, who has cerebral palsy, entered the event having won gold at the Rio Paralympics and duly delivered on the track, dominating the event to cross the line in a time of 12.46s.

Hahn's title was never seriously in doubt, with her nearest competitor Rhiannon Clarke comfortably behind despite recording an area-record time of 13.17s.

The Australian was level pegging with Hahn during the opening stages of the race, but was unable to keep up and was forced to settle for silver.

Wales's Olivia Breen claimed bronze to complete the podium, beating Australian duo Ella Pardy and Erin Cleaver in front of an enthusiastic Aussie crowd at the Carrara Stadium.

England's Katrina Hart recorded a season-best time of 14.82s, but could still only manage a sixth-placed finish.
