Andrew Riley holds off Will Sharman in 110m hurdles final

Will Sharman is denied a gold in the 110m hurdles final by Jamaica's Andrew Riley, who holds on for the victory in Hampden Park.

Will Sharman's bid for Commonwealth glory has been ruined by Jamaica's Andrew Riley, who collected gold in the 110m hurdles on Tuesday night.

Riley produced an impressive performance over the hurdles after a steady start, and he was able to rely on his sprinting qualities in the closing stages to edge out Sharman with a time of 13.32s.

It looked likely that Sharman would take gold at the halfway stage, but a crucial collision with the eighth barrier cost him a valuable advantage.

Shane Brathwaite of Barbados managed to secure bronze, but it was a disappointing final for Lawrence Clarke as the Englishman was forced to settle for last place.
