Amir Williamson: 'I can improve in hammer throw final'

England's Amir Williamson has said that he is looking forward to experiencing the roar of supporters in tonight's hammer throw final.

The 27-year-old progressed through the qualifiers with a throw of 68.42m, but says that he is confident of improving on that tally.

"You can hear the Hampden roar from the Village which is great and I can't wait to get out there again for the final," The Echo quotes Williamson as saying. "I was reading all about it on Twitter before coming out to compete and it certainly lived up to the expectations.

"The stadium was great and so was the crowd and I'm sure it could well be even better for an evening session. I'm definitely capable of going way over 70m in the final as well."

Tonight's final is scheduled to get underway at 8.50pm.
