Caterine Ibarguen crowned triple jump world champion for second time

Ibarguen crowned world champion again

Caterine Ibarguen has successfully defended her triple jump title at the World Athletics Championships in Beijing.

It was far from comfortable for the Colombian in the final, but she produced a season's best with her fourth attempt to record a jump of 14.90m.

Hanna Knyazyeva-Minenko had led for much of the early stages with 14.78m, before Ibarguen proved her class when it mattered most to force the Israeli to settle for a silver medal.

After looking set to miss out on a medal heading into the sixth and final attempt, Kazakhstan's Olga Rypakova registered a jump of 14.77m to clinch bronze ahead of Gabriela Petrova of Bulgaria.
