Team GB's Alan Wills loses in a one-arrow shootout to Australian Taylor Worth.

Team GB's Alan Wills has been defeated in a one-arrow shootout to be eliminated from the men's archery first round.

Wills had hit back from 4-2 down to force a one-arrow decider, but after Australian opponent Taylor Worth had stepped up to record 10 points, Wills could only respond with a nine to bow out at the first round.

The Australian took the opening set 28-25, before Wills hit back with 28 points of his own to level the match.

However, Worth regained the lead with a modest 26 points after Wills could only score three eight-point shots.

Worth had the opportunity to seal his passage in the next set when he required a nine with his final arrow, but he could only hit eight to take the match into a deciding set.

Wills scored three solid nines to secure the fifth set and level the scores at 5-5, which meant the match was to be decided by a one-arrow shootout.

Worth was the first to step up and he hit a superb 10-point shot, and although Wills fired back with an arrow that marginally missed the 10-point sector, it was not enough to avoid being knocked out of the tournament.
