Italy win gold in Men's team Archey competition

Italy have secured their first gold medal of the Olympic Games in dramatic fashion, winning the men's team archery competition.

The Italians needed a perfect ten with their last arrow in a closely fought final against the United States, who had to settle for silver.

Nerves of steel were required from Michele Frangill, who produced the required score with seconds left on the clock to win gold for Italy by a single point, 219-218.

South Korea could not match their world record exploits of Friday's ranking round, defeating Mexico 224-219 at Lord's to win the bronze medal match.

Great Britain's team of Alan Wills, Larry Godfrey and Simon Terry were dumped out in the first round, losing to the Ukraine by a comprehensive scoreline of 223-212.
