Doug Williams: 'Washington Redskins have not given up on Robert Griffin III'

Williams: 'Redskins have not given up on RG3'

Former Washington Redskins quarterback Doug Williams has insisted that no-one at the club has given up on Robert Griffin III.

The 25-year-old has struggled to recapture the form of his rookie year in his past two seasons at the club, and was even benched in the 2014 campaign in favour of Kirk Cousins and later Colt McCoy.

However, Williams – who now serves as an executive at the NFC East outfit – is adamant that Griffin has the ability to turn into a quality player in the NFL.

"This is a young guy that's got some talent," Williams told SiriusXM NFL Radio. "There are adjustments that he has to make if I think given time, and I think that's one of the reasons why nobody has given up on him. "With the talent that he does have, you're hoping that the last couple of years with the injuries and everything is out of the way, that he will develop into the guy that we all hope for him to be. I think it's fair to give him that opportunity."

The Redskins' hierarchy have revealed that they could select a quarterback in the 2015 Draft should they be enamoured with a particular prospect.
