Obama: 'I would change Redskins' name'

United States President Barack Obama has stated that if he were the owner of the Washington Redskins, then he would offer to change the name of the team.

Redskins owner Dan Snyder has come under pressure in recent weeks to change the name of the team due to it being offensive to Native Americans.

Obama told The AP: "If I were the owner of the team and I knew that the name of my team, even if they've had a storied history, that was offending a sizable group of people, I'd think about changing it."

The franchise was formed in 1937.
