Zach Mettenberger: 'I could beat out Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota'

Tennessee Titans quarterback Zach Mettenberger feels that he could beat out Jameis Winston or Marcus Mariota if the club selected either signal-caller in the 2015 Draft.

Zach Mettenberger has insisted that he could beat out Jameis Winston or Marcus Mariota to be the starting quarterback of the Tennessee Titans if the club selected either player in the 2015 Draft.

The 23-year-old was selected in the sixth round of the 2014 Draft by the Titans and, due to the injury problems of Jake Locker, was moved into the starting role midway through the campaign.

However, Mettenberger struggled to turn things around for the team before he was ruled out for the campaign with a shoulder injury, while Ken Whisenhunt's men finished with a 2-14 record, the second worst in the NFL.

The Titans hold the second overall pick in the Draft, leading to speculation that they could take one of the top two quarterbacks available in the form of Winston or Mariota.

"They are obviously very talented guys," Mettenberger told WGFX-FM. "If they were here I think they would say the same thing. If we had to compete out there, I think I'd beat them out."

Mettenberger threw for 1,412 yards along with eight touchdowns to seven interceptions in seven matches last season.
