Tampa Bay Buccaneers sign Rian Lindell

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers sign former Buffalo Bills kicker Rian Lindell.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed veteran kicker Rian Lindell.

The Buccaneers completed the signing due to concerns over the fitness of other kickers in their squad, with Derek Dimke currently the only one able to practise.

Connor Barth suffered a torn Achilles tendon during a charity basketball match while Lawrence Tynes, who only recently joined the Buccaneers, has been unable to practice due to a toe injury.

Lindell joins the side with a wealth of experience having spent 10 years with the Buffalo Bills before being cut earlier this week in favour of rookie Dustin Hopkins.

The 36-year-old began his NFL career with the Seattle Seahawks in 2000 but is most remembered for his time with the Bills, where he holds the franchise record for successful field goal percentage with 83.3, having hit 225 of 270 kicks.

Lindell's haul of 980 points for the Bills is the second-highest tally in the franchise's history, and he has only missed one extra point kick in his entire career.
