Fisher: 'Bradford is out for the year'

St Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher has confirmed that quarterback Sam Bradford will miss the 2014 season with a torn ACL.

The 26-year-old sustained the injury in his side's pre-season win over the Cleveland Browns after taking a hit from defensive end Armonty Bryant.

Fisher revealed that veteran quarterback Shaun Hill will now assume starting duties after serving as Bradford's backup during training camp.

He told reporters: "Of course, unfortunately, I can confirm we've lost Sam ([Bradford] for the year. For Sam personally, it's devastating.

"We move forward as a football team. Shaun is our guy. He has a great feeling for the offense right now and we're going to move forward with it.

"He's ready for the challenge. He's ready for the opportunity."

The Rams open their 2014 season against the Minnesota Vikings on September 7.
