Patrick Willis returns to practice with San Francisco 49ers

Patrick Willis has returned to practice with the San Francisco 49ers.

The linebacker, who reportedly fractured his hand last month, wore a non-contact jersey for his return to the practice field.

When asked whether the 28-year-old would be ready for the start of the regular season, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio told reporters: "That's my impression right now, yes. Now he may have to play with some contraption on his hand for a little bit, but my understanding, he'll be ready."

The 49ers play the Green Bay Packers in the opening week of the season.
