San Francisco 49ers' Lawrence Okoye: "I'm going to IR"

Former British Olympian Lawrence Okoye admits that he is going on the San Francisco 49ers' injured reserve list after initially being released by the club.

San Francisco 49ers defensive end and former British Olympian Lawrence Okoye has revealed that he will revert to his side's injured reserve list this season.

Okoye was part of his side's cutdown to meet the NFL's requirement of having 75 players on the roster.

However, the 21-year-old has admitted that he will return to Jim Harbaugh's side to go on injured reserve for the season and to have another crack at their roster for the 2014 season.

Okoye said on Twitter: "Relax people - I'm going on IR."

The 21-year-old joined the 49ers in April following a successful workout.
