Hunter tears ACL in 49ers practice

The San Francisco 49ers have announced that Kendall Hunter tore his anterior cruciate ligament during a training camp practice yesterday.

The running back was able to walk to the locker room under his own power after picking up the injury yesterday morning, but the NFC West side have since revealed the extent of the damage following tests earlier today.

Hunter has spent the last couple of seasons as backup to Frank Gore, but missed time in 2012 with a torn Achilles.

The 25-year-old had 78 carries last season for 358 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
