Eric Weddle: I feel "highly disrespected" by San Diego Chargers

San Diego Chargers safety Eric Weddle says that he feels "highly disrespected" by the AFC West side in his attempts to negotiate a new contract.

San Diego Chargers safety Eric Weddle has declared that he feels "highly disrespected" by the club in regards to his attempts to negotiate a long-term contract.

The 30-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best players in his position in the NFL, and is seeking a deal to ensure that he retires as a member of the AFC West outfit.

However, Weddle has revealed that he and his representatives have been rebuffed in their approach to talk about a new contract.

"I feel highly, highly disrespected," Weddle told UT-San Diego. "It is what it is, but there is no reason for me to put out any more effort.

"We've come to them numerous times and said we want to be part of the team, we want to retire as a Charger. We've completely gotten pushed aside."

Weddle recorded 114 tackles, two forced fumbles and one interception for the Chargers in the 2014 season.
