Manti Te'o out of San Diego Chargers' season opener

The San Diego Chargers have announced that linebacker Manti Te'o will miss their season opener against the Houston Texans.

The Chargers confirmed on their injury report ahead of the game that the 22-year-old will not be fit enough to take the field.

Te'o has struggled for the last month with a sprained foot and is not expected to return to the fold until week three.

The linebacker was taken 38th overall in the 2013 Draft.
