San Diego Chargers place Dwight Freeney on injured reserve list

Chargers place Freeney on IR

The San Diego Chargers have placed outside linebacker Dwight Freeney on their injured reserve list ending his 2013 season.

The 33-year-old sustained a torn quadricep injury in his side's win over the Dallas Cowboys, which will rule him out for six months.

Mike McCoy's side also confirmed that they placed wide receiver Malcom Floyd on IR as well, after his agent revealed that his campaign was also over due to a neck injury.

As a result the Chargers have signed free-agent receiver Lavelle Hawkins to their active roster and promoted Thomas Kaiser from the practice squad.
