San Diego Chargers deny sackings

Dean Spanos has denied that San Diego Chargers head coach Norv Turner and general manager AJ Smith will be out of a job at the end of the season.

The San Diego Tribune reported yesterday that the duo will be fired after the current campaign.

The franchise's owner said: "There is only one person in this organisation who will make those decisions and that's me, and I haven't shared my thoughts with anyone.

"I will make my evaluations at the end of the season. Anything coming out now – from sources or otherwise – is pure speculation."

The Chargers have lost eight of the 12 games this season, including their last four in a row.
