Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly: 'DeMarco Murray's workload is a concern'

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly admits that he does have fears over the durability of DeMarco Murray following his heavy workload in the 2014 season.

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly has conceded that he is concerned about the prospect of overworking running back DeMarco Murray in the 2015 season.

The Eagles signed Murray in the off-season after he led the NFL in rushing yards in the 2014 season while he was with the Dallas Cowboys.

However, the 27-year-old carried the ball 436 times for the Cowboys – the seventh-most in NFL history – last term, leading to concerns over his durability for the new campaign.

"I think there is a lot of validity to it," Kelly told TheMMQB.com. "But how do you manage him going into a season?

"Our plan all along was to get another running back with him. I wanted to have two running backs, and that's why we got Ryan [Mathews].

"I don't think you can have a guy carry it 370 to 400 times per season and be successful. We're going to run it a lot - we always do - but we'll have more than one guy doing it."

Murray was named the Offensive Player of the Year in the 2014 season.
