Eagles confirm Cooper excused from camp

Philadelphia Eagles have confirmed that wide receiver Riley Cooper has been excused from training camp after making a racial slur at a concert in June.

The 25-year-old made the offensive comment in June, which was then released to the wider public earlier this week, much to fury of his teammates at the Eagles.

A statement from the organisation released on their official website said: "As we have said, Riley Cooper will be seeking counseling and we have excused him from all team activities.

"This is all new territory and we are going to evaluate this timetable every step of the way.

"He will meet with professionals provided by the Eagles during this period of time to better help him understand how his words have hurt so many, including his teammates."

Cooper was drafted by Philadelphia in 2010.
