Matt Barkley hopes to play during first year

Matt Barkley has said that he hopes to play for the Philadelphia Eagles during his first year in the NFL.

The NFC East side selected the former USC quarterback during the fourth round of this year's draft.

The 22-year-old told the Philadelphia Daily News: "You come in as a teammate to them, not as a fan. The fact is that I'm here, and I have a shot to play on the field this year."

The Eagles already have Michael Vick and Nick Foles competing for the starting quarterback role with the team.
