Greg McElroy leads New York Jets to narrow win

Greg McElroy leads the New York Jets to victory in his first NFL appearance.

Third-string quarterback Greg McElroy led the New York Jets to a one-point win in a low-scoring encounter with the Arizona Cardinals.

Mark Sanchez started at the quarterback position for the Jets, but completed just 10 of 21 passes and threw three interceptions.

Regular backup Tim Tebow was unable to play due to broken ribs, which saw McElroy brought on for his first NFL appearance.

Jay Feely had given the Cardinals a three-point lead with a 48-yard field goal in the second quarter.

McElroy put the Jets ahead in the fourth quarter with a pass to Jeff Cumberland for a touchdown.

Feely reduced the Jets' lead to one point with a second field goal but the Cardinals were unable to produce a scoring play.

The Jets are second in the AFC East, while the Cardinals are bottom of the NFC West.
