New York Jets' Mark Sanchez: "I won quarterback competition"

New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez believes that he won the job to be his side's starting quarterback before he sustained a shoulder injury.

New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez has revealed that he believes he won the starting job at his side before he injured his shoulder.

The 26-year-old sustained his injury in the Jets' third pre-season game against the New York Giants, which paved the way for rookie Geno Smith to start the season as his side's number one quarterback.

Sanchez told NFL Network: "What I'm really disappointed about is that I got hurt because I won the competition. There's no doubt, it was a done deal."

The Jets fell to 1-1 in the season following their defeat to the New England Patriots on Thursday.
