Pace: "I wasn't consistent enough"

New York Jets linebacker Calvin Pace had admitted that his performances last year for his side were not good enough.

Pace and his teammates struggled throughout the 2012 season as they finished 6-10, which culminated in his release from Rex Ryan's side in February.

However, he rejoined the Jets in April on a one-year deal.

Pace told the club's official website: "I just think I wasn't consistent enough last year in a lot of areas, for whatever reason. There just were games that I don't think I was a big enough factor in."

"Nobody has great years every single year. You have some down years, but you do have to reflect and say, 'I have to step this up, and this is fine, but I need to get better in this area'."

Pace joined the Jets in 2008.
