New York Jets place franchise tag on kicker Nick Folk

The New York Jets confirm that Nick Folk will be at the club in the 2014 season as they have placed the franchise tag on the 29-year-old.

The New York Jets have announced that they have placed the franchise tag on kicker Nick Folk.

The 29-year-old was due to be out of contract at the end of the league year in March, but the Jets have extended his stay by another season by placing the tag on him.

Folk will now earn $3.5m (£2.08m) for the 2014 season with the Jets after an excellent campaign with Rex Ryan's side in 2013.

The kicker was successful with 33 out of his 36 field goal attempts last season.
