New York Jets claim tight end Zach Sudfeld off waivers

The New York Jets sign tight end Zach Sudfeld by claiming him off the waiver wire following his release by their AFC East rivals the New England Patriots.

The New York Jets have claimed tight end Zach Sudfeld from waivers following his release by the New England Patriots.

Sudfeld was cut by the Patriots on Thursday following a disappointing start to the season as he made several high-profile mistakes including fumbling an onside kick in his side's win over the Atlanta Falcons.

However, the Jets have moved to secure the tight end off the waiver wire to bolster their options at the position, with only Jeff Cumberland and Kellen Winslow on their roster at present.

Rex Ryan's side are 2-2 in their season going into week five.
