Agent: 'Muhammad Wilkerson will not attend voluntary workouts'

The agent of Muhammad Wilkerson announces that the defensive end will not be attending the New York Jets' voluntary off-season workouts.

The agent of New York Jets defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson has confirmed that the player will not be attending the club's voluntary workouts.

The 25-year-old is entering the final year of his rookie deal with the AFC East outfit, and has yet to agree a new long-term deal despite being an integral part of the club's defense for the past four seasons.

As a result, Wilkerson has taken the decision to train by himself rather than at the Jets' training facility with his teammates under new head coach Todd Bowles.

Chad Wiesling told CBS: "Muhammad will not be attending the Jets voluntary workouts that began today.

"Muhammad has been engaged in a workout program with his personal trainer since February, and believes that continuing with his current program and believes that continuing with his current program will put him in the best physical shape for the 2015 season."

Wilkerson has recorded 237 tackles, 24.5 sacks and one interception in his four years in the NFL.
