Victor Cruz optimistic of new contract

Victor Cruz has said that he expects to finalise a new deal with the New York Giants in the near future.

The wide receiver will be a free agent at the end of the season as his current contract comes to an end.

The 26-year-old told the New York Daily News: "I think we're still moving in the right direction. You know, it's a negotiation and everything's not going to happen the way you want it to. We're just going back and forth, and hopefully we get things squared away soon.

"I'm just being patient, man. I'm gonna go enjoy this last game, hopefully enjoy this playoff berth. If not, enjoy the Pro Bowl and just relax a little bit."

Cruz has nine touchdowns this season, and has received for over 1,000 yards.
