New Orleans Saints' Sean Payton hails undrafted rookie Foster

New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton reveals that he is delighted with the performances of rookie defensive end Glenn Foster in their pre-season campaign.

New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton has hailed the performance of rookie Glenn Foster in their pre-season campaign.

The undrafted first-year defensive end has notched up three sacks, three quarterback hits and a forced fumble in the Saints' two games so far, giving himself a good chance of making their roster for the regular season.

Payton told The AP: "He's playing exceptionally well. When you get a player who comes in a rookie class as an undrafted free agent and is playing like he is and well enough to make the team, that's a good deal.

"He is very consistent, explosive. He was a player, after the draft, that a handful of teams were interested in and fortunately for us we were able to get him."

The Saints open their regular season campaign against the Atlanta Falcons on September 8.
