Josh McDaniels: 'Patient approach was key to Super Bowl win'

New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels feels that the patient approach employed by his side in the Super Bowl was key to their victory.

New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels has expressed his belief that his side's patient approach was key to their victory in Super Bowl XLIX.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady completed 37 of his 50 passes for 328 yards and four touchdowns, but only averaged 6.6 yards per attempt as the Seahawks limited his side's ability to secure big plays.

"I watched a lot of [Seahawks tape], obviously," McDaniels told TheMMQB.com. "And when you saw people have success against them, you saw teams stringing eight or 10 normal successful football plays together. Not explosive plays.

"The word that kept coming to my mind, and I must have said it to our offensive players 25 times in two weeks of prep, was 'patience.' I told them, 'Maybe we can come out of the game with one or two big plays. Maybe. But just trust the process. Be patient'."

McDaniels won the fourth Super Bowl ring of his career as part of the Patriots' staff.
