Investigator Ted Wells to attend Tom Brady appeal

Investigator Ted Wells will attend New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's appeal to answer questions on his report into the deflategate scandal.

Investigator Ted Wells will attend the appeal of New England Patriots' Tom Brady as the quarterback seeks to overturn his four-match suspension for the deflategate scandal.

The 37-year-old was banned by the NFL after a report by Wells found that the four-time Super Bowl champion was generally aware that members of the Patriots' equipment staff had deflated footballs in their AFC championship win over the Indianapolis Colts.

Brady launched an appeal against his suspension, and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will hear his case on Tuesday, despite the pleas of the NFL Players Association that he recuse himself from his role as arbitrator.

Several reports have claimed that the science behind Wells's accusations against the Patriots and Brady does not have merit, and Wells will attend the appeal to answer questions regarding those suggestions, while Brady's attorney Jeffrey Kessler could also question the attorney.

Wells previously hit out at claims by Brady's agent Don Yee that his report was biased towards the NFL.
