New England Patriots sign Will Smith

The New England Patriots sign defensive end Will Smith on a one-year deal following his release by the New Orleans Saints earlier in the off-season.

The New England Patriots have signed free agent defensive end Will Smith.

The 32-year-old was available on the open market after he was released by the New Orleans Saints in February following 10 years with the club.

Smith missed the 2013 season due to a torn ACL, but Bill Belichick's side have moved to sign the veteran to a reported one-year deal after working him out at their training complex.

The defensive lineman has recorded 467 tackles, 67.5 sacks and two interceptions in his NFL career.
