New England Patriots place Sebastian Vollmer on injured reserve

The New England Patriots place offensive tackle Sebastian Vollmer on season-ending injured reserve after he sustains a broken leg.

The New England Patriots have placed offensive tackle Sebastian Vollmer on their injured reserve list.

The 29-year-old sustained a broken leg during his side's win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday and underwent surgery to repair the damage on Monday.

As a result the surgery has ruled him out for the rest of the season and the Patriots placed him on IR to open up a space on their roster.

Vollmer had started in all eight of the Patriots' games this season.
